More than 600 active volunteers are involved in helping us run the Hospice, from providing complementary therapies as part of our Therapeutic & Wellbeing team, to serving customers in our high street shops. Volunteers work in every area of our organisation to make sure we can continue offering our expert care and support for the local community.
Without our volunteers, we simply wouldn’t be the Willen Hospice we are today.
While we celebrate our volunteers every single day, Volunteers’ Week (2-8 June) this week is a chance for us to say an extra special, heartfelt thank you to those who give their time, energy and kindness so generously.
73 full-time positions
Most of our volunteers give an average of four hours of their time each week, which adds up to 122,304 hours a year. That’s the equivalent of 73 full-time positions!
Showing their commitment to our cause, 175 of our volunteers have been with us for more than 5 years, and 37 have been with us more than 15 years.
We simply couldn’t provide the care and support our patients and their families need without the incredible dedication of our volunteers.
Volunteer opening evening
Whether you’re looking to learn new skills, meet new people, or give back, volunteering with Willen Hospice offers a unique and rewarding way to do all three.
If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering with us, please do come along to our drop-in session on Tuesday 3 June to find out more. The open evening is taking place at The Well at Willen, 5.30–7.30pm. Everyone is welcome and staff will be on hand to explain more about the opportunities available and what’s involved.
We particularly need more volunteer support for our Community Fundraising and Events team, who organise the Midnight Moo and many more fantastic events throughout the year.
