Safeguarding
We are committed to promoting the wellbeing and safety of all our patients and their family members, our customers, staff and volunteers.
Safeguarding is our priority
Safeguarding means protecting a person’s health, well-being and human rights; enabling them to live free from harm, abuse and neglect. It is an integral part of providing high-quality health care. In all walks of life, we encounter vulnerable people – children, the elderly, or those with additional care and support needs or disabilities – who might not be able to protect themselves. We can all be part of making a difference by making sure they are not at risk. Willen Hospice Safeguarding strategy demonstrates an ongoing commitment for Safeguarding to be a priority in all we do. This covers:
- Safeguarding Adults and Children’s Policy and Procedures
- Designated Safeguarding Leads for adults and children
- Trained champions to recognise domestic violence
- Role- specific mandatory safeguarding training for all our staff, volunteers and trustees
- Enhanced DBS checks for all with direct client or patient contact
- External supervision by CCG Safeguarding lead nurses
- Annual Safeguarding Self assessment Audit for CCG-commissioned services
- Safeguarding clinical leads and a Safeguarding
- Steering Group including Willen Ventures
- Safeguarding activities regularly monitored in Clinical Effectiveness, Clinical Governance and Senior Management Team
- Collaboration with local Children and Adult Safeguarding stakeholders
If you are concerned that a vulnerable person or child is being abused or neglected, or at risk of it, then we encourage you to take action immediately.
