Shaping the future together

Our Hospice User Group (HUG) is a friendly, open forum for patients, carers, family members and friends who have experienced the Hospice’s services. The group’s aim is to give service users a voice to improve the quality of our patient care and how we can develop our services for the future.

Why is HUG so important?

We want service users to feel comfortable sharing their experiences of our services. This means we’re able to turn their valuable feedback and insight into improvements, so we can shape the future of Willen Hospice, together.

The HUG plays an important role in sharing the experiences of service users with the Board and the Executive team so that the highest possible standard of care is met at all times.

Can I join the HUG?

If you’ve used any of our services as a patient, carer, relative or visitor then you are welcome to join a HUG focus group. You will be helping to make a difference to other people using our services here at the Hospice or out in the community.

What’s Involved?

Group of people looking at posters on wallThe HUG focus groups run throughout the year, alternate months on Sunday afternoons. During a focus group you will be invited to share your experiences and ideas you have about how we can continue to improve our services.

You will be welcomed to the Wellbeing space in the Hospice with light refreshments and an introduction to the research tool we use to structure the focus group. You will be asked to complete a 1 page consent form so that we can learn from the feedback you share.

The meeting lasts up to 2 hours. Help will be on hand throughout the session and please let us know in advance if you need any specific help.

How do I join a meeting?

If you are interested in attending a HUG focus group to share your experience of Willen Hospice services, please contact Jo Adams, Clinical administrator
