In-Patient Unit

Our In-Patient Unit offers personalised care to patients who need help managing complex symptoms, such as pain, or who are near the end of their life.

Round the clock specialist care

As a patient staying with us, you’ll receive personalised specialist care around the clock, to suit your own needs and wishes. Our compassionate team, made up of doctors, nurses, healthcare assistants and a pharmacist, take time to get to know you and your family. When you arrive, they’ll speak to you to help create a personal care plan for your stay.

Our aim is to help relieve your symptoms, so you can focus on what’s important to you.

Thanks to our extension in 2022, each of our 15 bedrooms has a lake view or a patio area, giving patients a tranquil space in which to spend time with their loved ones. Visitors are welcome at any time and can make use of our café and Lakeview Lounge, as well as our beautiful grounds. Every room has a hoist that enables patients with limited mobility to move around, and almost all of our rooms have an en-suite bathroom.

Frequently asked questions

When you arrive at the In-Patient Unit, our nursing team will make sure you have all the information you need about your stay. They’ll give you a welcome booklet to keep, which includes more detail about practical topics, such as facilities, mealtimes and the different services we can offer you. In the meantime, here are a few of the most frequently asked questions.

There’s no limit to how many visitors you can have at one time. Your visitors are welcome to use the Lakeview Lounge, and the café when it’s open.

Each day you’ll get to choose your breakfast, lunch and dinner in advance. We want you to benefit as much as possible from the food you eat while you’re staying with us, so all meals are freshly cooked in our kitchen.

If you have any dietary requirements, you can talk to us about this when you arrive, so that we can make sure we have suitable meal choices for you.

Smoking is not permitted in the Hospice buildings or outside the entrances. There is a designated green shelter in the gardens near the front of the building, which has a cigarette bin.

If you’re returning home, you and your carers will meet with our team to plan your future care. This may involve our own Hospice services, such as our Willen at Home team supporting you; NHS services, such as district nurses; or private care agencies.

If you need any equipment at home, such as a hospital bed, this will be arranged in advance for you.
