Shadi Maleknia, is Lead Nurse for Palliative and End-of-Life Care at Milton Keynes University Hospital. Here, she shares her insights into working with our Willen at Home team.
“Often, the reason we can actually send a patient back home in Milton Keynes is because we know Willen at Home will look after them,” says Shadi.
“It would be a terrible loss not to have Willen at Home because once we know a patient is settled enough, symptoms-wise, to go back into the community, we send them knowing that Willen at Home will follow them up and monitor their symptoms. Having the Willen at Home team means we can discharge our patients to their preferred place of care safely.
“The emotional support that Willen at Home provide to patients is significant. However, not only do they support the patients, they also help the whole family during such difficult and challenging times.”
