Our Willen at Home team make it possible for many local people with a life-limiting illness to stay in their own home and live well until they die, for however long that may be. Yet despite being the only service of its kind in Milton Keynes, Willen at Home receives no NHS funding.
In September, we launched our ‘Care at home? Who cares?’ campaign, urging local people to pledge their support for the Hospice, and particularly our Willen at Home team.
We are hoping to gather 10,000 signatures to show that the Milton Keynes community does care about care at home and wants fairer funding for their local hospice.
Over 7,000 signatures reached
The response has been overwhelming. We’ve been moved by supportive comments on social media, by email and in messages accompanying donations. More than 7,000 local people have now added their name to our fight for fairer funding.

Support from our MPs
All three of our new local MPs have been in touch to find out more about our campaign.
In October, Chris Curtis, MP for Milton Keynes North met with our Chief Executive, Kate Broadhurst, and in the coming months she’ll welcome Callum Anderson MP (Buckingham and Bletchley) and Emily Darlington MP (Milton Keynes Central) for a Hospice visit.
All three MPs have also written a letter to the Bedfordshire, Luton & Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board (ICB), who allocate NHS funding in this area, citing the number of signatures we’ve received to our campaign.
The future of our funding
The local ICB are currently drafting a report on the funding decisions they’ll make for the next financial year. There’s a chance that the public will be able to offer feedback on this report. We’ll keep you, our supporters, updated on the progress of this.
