Willen Hospice CEO leads tributes to Willen Hospice heroine, Jaff Newton who recently died in the care of the Hospice.
We were honoured to be able to care for our much-loved volunteer, Jaff, here at the Hospice, our Midnight Moo event wouldn’t be what is is today with her passion and support. Willen Hospice CEO, Peta Wilkinson paid tribute to our Hospice heroine;
“We say a fond farewell to our beloved friend and supporter Jaff Newton who gave so much to the Hospice and many organisations in MK over many years. Her contribution has been amazing and she will be very sadly missed.
Jaff combined an amazing mind with wit, a huge skills base and a hugely positive outlook on life. She influenced everything at the Hospice from the strategy and direction, service configuration, look and feel and how we interacted with our community and supporters.
She helped us to organise the Midnight Moo for 13 years and contributed hugely to its development as our flagship event.
Our love and thoughts go to her family and friends with whom we share her outstanding legacy.”
Jaff was a familiar sight for over a decade with her crew at the start of the 10 mile night time walk at Mile one. We had recently spoken with Jaff and she kindly shared her Moo journey with us. Read this story here.
Sadly, for the first time in 12 years, Jaff was unable to make this years Midnight Moo, Bosom Pals MK and their team of cheerleaders did an amazing job creating a magic atmosphere at mile one.
We’ll continue to support Jaff’s family and friends for as long as they need us are in our thoughts and her legacy as a true friend of Willen will live on.
